This is a comic about the struggle of the civil rights movement of the 1960’s. It’s also based off another comic about Martin Luther King way back in the 1950’s. The comic is told in flashbacks from one of the civil rights starters, John Lewis. Now I haven’t read this in a few years so sorry if I’m vague. It’s also history but I like for people to actually read this and not say they read this.

John Lewis talks about his upbringing at a farm, as well as the Jim Crow laws, and segregation at the time. Then he talks about meeting MLK and how they shared the ideas of equality and started the civil rights movement. The story shows how they and other civil rights followers went through the struggle. At the end where they were at Selma, Alabama, I was a bit worried and it made me feel hopeful at the end of the book. Everyone should give this a read when you can, it showed a lot of the struggles they went through.
